    Cooper and Epping
Hey all! Things are going well at the Andersen household. Cooper is doing well. I have uploaded more pictures of him on to my yahoo pictures. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/unhtuba/my_photos

Cooper is well, eating a ton. Getting better at sleeping at night. We have to put him down and let him cry himself to sleep, which is sad, but an evil that has to happen to get him on a schedule. But he has been sleeping much more at night. Yeah!!!

I visited my GM for the Epping store. A nice guy named Steve. He trained me in the Dover store. I'm super excited to be going. I have 2.5 more weeks in Hookset then I report to Epping.

If anyone needs a job, we need to hire 70-80 employees. All positions. So IM me and I'll give you more info!

    A Few Things
    Hey All!

So things are going well around the Andersend household. Cooper is doing well. getting to sleep more during the night rather then sleeping all day. Jaime and I really like that! He's eating tons. We weighed him this morning and he's at 11 pounds. He is one healthy baby.

The other good news is I'm offically going to the Epping Applebees Opening as of Aug 22nd. This is something I've wanted to do for over a year now, so I'm really happy. I get to be the second manager in, which means I get to organize lots of stuff and have a big part in the hiring of everyone! So Year! You'll all have to come and visit! Its at the intersection of 125 and 101 :)

    The Miracle of Life
Well, this is my first opportunity to update my journal. So I'll give you the run down of everything that happened in the hospital.

We arrived Monday 7/4 at 730pm for Jaime to get Cervadil, which is a medicine to help soften the cervix to prepare it for labor. From our hospital room we could look out over memorial field and watch the fireworks going off for the 4th of July. Jaime was given some sleep medication to help her sleep and off to bed we went. Jaime woke me up at 5:00 complaining she couldn't sleep any more and wanted to walk. Our nurse suggested the jacuzzi bath tub as well. So while she drew up a bath for Jaime, we walked the halls of the maternity ward doing two laps, neither of which Jaime remembers due to the fact the sleep medication was supposed to last until 8am. We got her back to the room and in the tub where she enjoyed the jacuzzi jets for a while, but her contractions were coming more and more. Bethany, our nurse, suggested that she get out of the tub at 6:40am and get back to the bed. At this point Jaime was checked and was 4 cm dilated and 90% effaced (Thinning of the cervix). Within what seemed like minutes Jaime's contractions were coming more and more frequently and lasting longer. Probably around 7:00am Jaime's water broke and Bethany checked Jaime again and this time she was 8 cm dilated and 100% effaced. Amazed at the rapidness of the labor, Bethany called in support nurses where a head nurse checked Jaime, this time 9cm dilated. They paged the residents and got all the equipment into the room at this point. The three Resident Doctors arrived just after Jaime’s involuntary contractions began. One of them checked her and she was 10 cm dilated. He then gave her permission to "go with it" and push when she felt it was necessary.

I was standing next to Jaime the whole time but I could watch each time she pushed and saw more and more of the baby coming out of her. I thought I didn’t want to see but, from my standing point I didn’t have much of a choice. The reality of child birth is much different then the "Birthday Story" or all those other TLC shows. The baby looked pretty good, very wet, but not gross like most of the baby's on those shows who have issues that happen 1 in a 1000 babies. So ladies, don’t worry, its not as bad as those shows tell you. After about only 8 or 9 pushes the baby had come out and I stood stunned looking down at the baby. Jaime said to me "well??" I said "It's a boy." She looked at me puzzled and said "are you sure?" This was because we had expected it to be a girl the whole time. My response to her was, "yes, I'm pretty sure." I couldn't but smile while telling her. The Doctors cleaned up the baby and put it chest to chest with Jaime, where she and I looked at it and just marveled over what we had created together. The baby’s official birth time was 7:34am on 7/5/05 - A 2 hour and 34 minute labor.

Our first thought was what will we name this baby. Our two boy names we had picked were Cooper Daniel and Taylor Daniel. Cooper and Taylor were our finalists and Daniel because it is sort of a tradition in my family to have the first son have the fathers name as his middle name. My dad's name is Scott and mine is Daniel Scott. So we decided to go with Cooper Daniel. Our second thought after watching our son for a while was, "Our parents are going to kill us." This was because Jaime was scheduled for petosin, a labor inducing drug, at 8am and we all figured the birth would be around 5-7pm that night. So I called our parents and stunned them with the news that they were grandparents all ready. Jaime's mom did not believe me at first, it wasn’t until I held the phone by the baby and she heard the cries that she believed me.

After an hour or so they asked Jaime if it was ok to take the baby and check it out, which is when we found out it was 9 pounds 6 ounces and 21 inches long. He had 10 fingers and 10 toes, no bruising or raspberries or any other common issues with large babies. He was perfectly healthy. Later we did have an issue common with big babies. Cooper had a hard time controlling his blood sugar. But with some special feedings we had that cleared up in a few days.

The Andersen Family is now home. Cooper does wake us up ever hour and a half to two hours for feedings, burping or changing, but so far mom and dad are very happy to spend any time with him, even if its during the wee "Nick at Night" hours of the morning.

    Baby Watch 41 4/7 weeks
Ok everyone! We got back from Concord a while ago. We did the non-stress test and our baby is far from stressed. It is just so happy in the home Jaime has made for it, it doesnt want to come out. So here's the plan. We head in tonight around 730 to start the process of indction. There are lots of medial terms for it all but this is the basic facts. Tonight we get something that will help soften the cervix with may induce labor, but if nothing else it just gets the cervix ready for the birth. Tomorrow morning around 8am Jaime will get Petosin which is to induce the labor specifically.... then its only a matter of time for the baby to come out if all goes well. So the plan is for a July 5th baby. I will call home to have Nicole change my away message when it happens so everyone can finaly know the sex, the name, and the size of the baby. So keep us in your thoughts :) Happy 4th everyone!!

PS - Our room will overlook memorial park and have a great view of the fireworks tonight :)

    Still No News
So Jaime and I have been to the Dr's today, and there is very little progress. We are going back on Thursday for a non-stress test. This is a test to make sure the baby is still happy, and not stressed. If the baby still hasnt come by next monday they are going to induce then. But we are hoping the baby will come before 4th of July so that it can celebrate its birthday before the holiday so that Jaimes' Family who are up for the holiday can meet the baby.

So cross you fingers for us that the baby comes soon. We are desperate to meet it and play with it, finaly find out if its a boy or a girl, and name it :) Which we know you are all anxious to see too!

Well off to bed, working in the morning! Good Night Stars.... Good Night Moon....

    2 week count down
Well hello everyone! Here's the update du jour (Pardon me, whats your soup du jour? Why thats our soup of the day. MMM great, I'll have one of those) Its the 2 week count down. So far nothing is going on, and we wish desperately that it was. We're anxious to meet this little life we've been feeling for months! So we've been practicing some techniques that self-induce labor (for more details ask later) but so far no luck. So we'll just have to wait and see!!! :) Thats all for now, just want you to know we are still here!

    My First Entry
Well it has come to my attention, that I should begin a Live Journal. Some of my friends thought, being a dad in less then 5 weeks qualifies as exciting enough to start this, so I did. I will keep you all updated. So here we go.

The Baby, who will be named later, is expected on or about June 23rd 2005.

We do not currently know the gender of the baby, we have decided to wait and be surprised when it pops out into the world. Therefore we have picked 2 boys name and 2 girls names and will decide on a name after the baby is born and we see "Who is looks like."

Things around the house are really coming along for the baby. A few more things to go and we'll golden. We even have our hospital bag all packed!

I will update my website on my next available weekend off so that you all can see current pics of Jaime and the baby's room. Then the baby, after it is born of course!

Well that is it for now, I'll be off to bed!
